Lisburn Buildings Preservation Trust > Current Project

The Trust cares about buildings and especially restoring Lisburn's rich architectural heritage. In December 2001, a group of local people sharing the same interest decided to form the Lisburn Buildings Preservation Trust.

While focusing on the Lisburn Historic Quarter, the Trust has the ability to consider projects throughout the city.

The Trust is a 'revolving fund' charged with the objective of rescuing buildings of architectural merit or of strategic heritage merit and giving them a new lease of life. Through securing ownership, undertaking feasibility studies, creating development plans and structural repairs, the Trust will make a very valuable contribution to the overall regeneration of the Historic Quarter.

As a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity, the Trust has identified its first 'ruin to rescue' at 31-33 Bridge Street. The Architectural Heritage Fund kindly agreed to grant fund a feasibility study for the property generously match-funded by Lisburn City Council.

The Trust is a member of the Association of Preservation Trusts and gratefully aknowledges the advice and direction of their local Chairman, Mr Marcus Patton, (Hearth Housing Association).
